Head of Operations, Greater China



Position Summary:

  • Reporting to the Managing Director, OANDA Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. and to the Director, Greater China, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and operating appropriate infrastructure in China to drive the overall growth of OANDA in the Greater China region. Also responsible for constantly developing local strategy together with the Country Director.
  • Specific duties include but are not limited to the following;
  • Assist the Director, Greater China to develop and implement a strategy for attracting and converting clients in the Greater China region to OANDA’s platform while ensuring that OANDA’s reputation with respect to honesty and fairness is preserved and the perception of OANDA as a “white knight” in the industry is maintained;
  • Put together a short, medium and long term strategy for setting up local presence (including RM and CX function) for OANDA in Greater China whilst taking reputation into consideration;
  • Work closely with the regional Head of Compliance to ensure OANDA's presence in Greater China remains compliant at all times, and if necessary take necessary steps to rectify;
  • Working with the Greater China marketing team to assist set up campaigns, in accordance with compliance and regulatory requirements to increase and convert clients form the Greater China region;
  • Manage and mentor employees including all aspects of performance management and evaluating objectives, eligibility for compensation increases, handle performance issues up to and including termination where applicable and in conjunction with the Global HR team;


  • Five to ten years of experience gained through increasingly responsible positions preferably within environments that have deepened their retail online forex and CFD industry experience. Additional experience in IT is preferable.
  • A proven track record of successfully developing, articulating and implementing a strategy for growth in a region, driving business development and leveraging opportunities identified to further build and develop the business
  • Demonstrated success working with the regulators in the regions would be considered an asset
  • An independent, self-directed individual who quickly anticipates market dynamics, technology developments and customer expectations and is not afraid to make decisions to develop, execute and deliver on an assigned strategy and leverage new business opportunities
  • Proven ability to innovate in ways that contribute to the success of the business
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills combined with the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly, identify key messaging for different audiences and work with a team to weave these into compelling communications pieces
  • A critical thinker with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop workflows, project plans and delegate accordingly to ensure projects meet the agreed upon deadlines
  • Positive attitude, flexible nature, thriving in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated abilities managing a team either directly or indirectly, cross functionally and cross-culturally and motivate them to success while maintaining adherence to the agreed upon objectives and timeline combined with the ability to manage employees in a professional, respectful manner that ensures the dignity of all participants
  • Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams while remaining decisive and displaying sound judgment
