The CASS Associate is expected to be the expert within Finance on the Financial Conduct Authority’s CASS regulations, and how these apply to the business and operations of OANDA Europe Ltd. They will ensure that OANDA Europe Ltd complies with all applicable CASS regulations. The CASS Associate will report to the CF10a. In addition to performing all CASS functions, the CASS Associate will assist with daily and month end accounting and regulatory reporting.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily client money processes including the investigation and resolution of any variances that are identified. These include but are not limited to: 
  • Daily internal reconciliation
  • Ensuring daily transfer is set up and transferred  
  • Prudential segregation calculation and update of log
  • Review of external reconciliation to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Update the record of unresolved client money items and ensure any open items from the external reconciliation are treated appropriately in a timely fashion
  • Migration of funds to other OANDA entities
  • Development of various policies and procedures related to CASS
  • Updating current CASS policies to ensure continued adherence with FCA rules
  • Liaise with external reconciliation and technical operations teams for the investigation and collation of issues to be documented in the incident log. Updating the MI on all incidents
  • Responsible for collating all the monthly reporting and dashboard to the risk committee and board
  • Daily bank reconciliation for operating accounts
  • Assist on other month end procedures including balance sheet reconciliations, accrual posting and review of journal entries
  • Preparing the COREP and other FCA regulatory reports (FSA 001/002, CMAR, etc.) as necessary
  • Cover for other accounting and finance function areas if needed

Experience required:

  • At least 2-3 years' experience in CASS related roles
  • Excellent understanding of CASS regulatory requirements
  • Good general knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulations and laws
  • Detailed understanding of operations impacted by the CASS Rules
  • Ideally a qualified accountant ACA / ACCA or related qualification but not essential
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering risk based projects
  • Experience of dealing with and presenting to senior management
  • Knowledgeable on good governance practices
